HYDERABAD: The mother of the four-year-old victim of a Banjara Hills school described how the child had told her about her ordeal.

The mother said her children were usually excited when they returned home, but the victim’s behaviour became very subdued. Unlike her other child, the victim kept to herself and avoided speaking to anyone. "She used to cry loudly whenever we tried to ask her why," the mother explained.

The mother quoted the child as saying that the accused took her and her friend into a room.  "In a school with so many workers and drivers, why would my child identify him alone and clearly with all the details? It appears that the principal was also aware of his activities. If not, why did she try to protect him when we questioned them about the incident on Tuesday. I urge the police to look into this as well and see if he has spoiled any other children at the school," she said.

The girl's mother stated that the parents will fight until they get justice, saying, "It is our child's future. The principal and the school may use all of their influence to get him (driver B. Rajani Kumar) out safely, but we are not going to keep quiet. Our children will question us tomorrow about why we did not fight the case when the accused were attempting to go scot-free."

On Monday, after learning about the assault from her child, the girl’s mother contacted the child's teacher, who claimed to be unaware of any incident. "She has no idea what is going on with the children in her care. I heard that in the past, when parents complained about the accused's suspicious activities, they went to the principal, but they were admonished and told to keep their mouths shut," she added.

Meanwhile, their lawyer, K Udaykanth, stated that they will decide on the next course of action based on the outcome of the investigation. Police personnel were stationed at the school to prevent any untoward incidents.
