Bengaluru: Suspecting wife’s fidelity, a 38-year-old techie stabbed three members of a family in his neighbourhood, killing a woman, in Kothanur on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Savithramma, 47. She was stabbed on her chest and succumbed on her way to the hospital.
Her son Bharath and husband Sannappa too sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be out of danger.
The accused, Anand, a business analyst at an IT company in Whitefield, was staying in Byrathi, along with his wife Sneha and their daughter.
Police said Anand was suspecting that his wife was having an affair with Bharath, 22, an auto driver, who was staying close to his house. Sneha often used to take his auto for her commute.
He used to frequently fight with her over the issue. After a fight on Saturday, Sneha called Bharath and his parents to her house to clarify the same.
When they came a heated argument broke out. In a fit of anger Anand stabbed Savithramma on her chest with a kitchen knife. He also stabbed Bharath and Sannappa when they tried to intervene.
Sneha raised an alarm and neighbours rushed to the spot. They rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, but Savithramma died on the way.
The Kothanur police rushed to the spot and chased down Anand, who tried to flee.
The police arrested Anand and registered a case against him under murder and attempt to murder charges.
