After Cinematic Chase, Locals Help Cops Arrest 25-yr-old Held for Smoking Ganja
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man was arrested after a chase across multiple buildings and terraces, with the help of over 20 locals, for allegedly consuming marijuana in Madhuranagar on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Salman, had allegedly bought marijuana from a peddler in Dhoolpet and engaged a team to sell them in the area.
A police officer involved in the arrest said: “We received a tip about the individual's activities in Madhuranagar. When he saw us, he fled the spot. The collaboration from the local community was instrumental in successfully capturing the accused.”
However, not all residents were welcoming of such action by the police, raising concerns about their safety.
“The accused tried to escape by entering our house while running. Initially, we thought he was a thief and alerted all neighbours. Seeing all of us trying to catch him, he jumped to another building from our terrace and then to another building to escape,” said Ganesh Singh, a resident.
Madhuranagar police inspector B. Srinivas said: “The accused is originally from Rehmatnagar. It was revealed that the accused obtained the ganja from Dhoolpet. Subsequently, the individual engaged friends in the illegal distribution of the substance. Our investigation is ongoing to probe how the accused obtained the substance and the extent of his distribution network. We urge the public to report any suspicious activity.”
