270 kilos of ganja seized, 2 held in Vijayawada
Contraband seized during vehicle checking at Ramavarappadu.
VIJAYAWADA: Patamata police arrested a transporter on Friday and seized 270 kilos of ganja packets he was transporting in a car from Visakhapatnam Agency to Hyderabad via Vijayawada.
While checking vehicles near Ramavarappadu Circle on Wednesday, police stopped a Skoda car and found the ganja packets on inspecting the vehicle.
During the checking, two people who were travelling in the car fled the scene. Police arrested Sinderi Simone and Korra Chantibabu. On investigating the police found that the two worked as coolies while the third—Kannuri Ramachandra Murthy alias Ramu, was running the ganja business. Korra Chantibabu and Simone are coolies at the workplace of Ramu.
Police recovered over 270 kilograms of ganja filled in 135 packets. Meanwhile, in another incident, the police of Patama arrested two persons who were accused of attacking two individuals with a blade on January 8 while they were going in an auto towards Ramalingeswaranagar from Screw Bridge.
KandiKallu Yaswanth of Krishna Lanka and Makkala Koteswararao of the same place were held by the police for attacking Boddu Suri and Peddi Raju.
In this regard, deputy commissioner of police Gajarao Bhupal praised the team who caught the accused in two separate cases.
