KOLLAM: Jaya Mol, 42, the accused in the murder of her 14-year-old son Jithu Job  in Kundara,  was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court at  Paravoor on Friday. She confessed before the magistrate that she had committed the murder single-handedly. The charred and disfigured body of  Jithu Job of Job Bhavan, Kureeppalli, Kundara,  was recovered from a plot near their house on Wednesday evening.

Jaya Mol, who was gloomy  when brought to the court from the Chathannoor police station, fainted inside the court room minutes before the proceedings started and was given medical aid. When asked by the magistrate, Jaya Mol disclosed that she was manhandled by the police even after she had “revealed everything about the murder”. However, she did not give a petition against the police  in writing.

According to the statement given to the police, Jaya Mol strangled her son using a shawl, as the duo had a tiff over property issues on Monday night inside the kitchen. She later charred the body using kerosene after dragging the body to the nearby plot. Jaya Mol was not on good terms with the family of her husband Job G. John over property issues. Her son   had visited his paternal house disregarding the restriction imposed by her  on the fateful day. Jithu, on returning home, told his mother that the family would not get his father’s share, which provoked her to do the heinous act while her husband and elder daughter were not at home.
