Bengaluru: The attack on city policemen continues unabated as two incidents came to light in KG Halli and Banaswadi police station limits. Four people, including two Congo nationals, were arrested in this connection. Since New Year as many as five incidents of assault on policemen have been reported.
In an incident reported in KG Halli police station limits, two Congo nationals, including a woman, allegedly assaulted two police constables for questioning them after an accident. Though the incident happened on January 14, it came to light on Friday.
According to police, the woman, Kilombe Klementin (25) and her boyfriend Kallulu Mojing (22) met with a minor accident when their car hit a bike in HBR Layout. The bike rider got into a fight with the couple, who were allegedly drunk.
Head constable Mallikarjunaiah and constable Anand rushed to the spot. When Anand questioned the couple, Kilombe allegedly slapped him, while Mojing attacked Mallikarjunaiah. Following the incident, the couple was arrested and produced before the court.
According to police, the Congo nationals had come to India on a student visa two years ago. They were residing in a house in Nagawara. While Mojing is studying at BMA College, Kilombe is pursuing BCA in Teacher’s Academy, police said.
In the second incident reported in Kammanahalli main road in Banaswadi police station limits, two policemen were assaulted by drunk men after they questioned them for creating a ruckus on the road.
The incident which came to light on Friday, allegedly took place on January 11, at around 11.30 pm. The two cops, Mallikarjun and Bhutanna, had objected to the drunk men, Saravan and Nitesh, for creating a nuisance on the road. They had parked their bike right in the middle of the road.
When the cops told the drunk men to remove their bike and leave, they felt offended and assaulted the cops. Banaswadi police rushed reinforcements and arrested the accused, the police said.
