Hyderabad: Santoshnagar police detained three persons while there were smuggling Rs 1.2 crore in demonetised currency on Sunday night. Two realtors and their associated were proceeding in two cars to meet their acquaintance to exchange the currency with new ones. Police personnel who were checking vehicles at DRDL, stopped the cars and found the cars in bags.
Police said the realtors were from Kothapet and Chanchalguda. “It seems to be black money. We are investigating the source of the money and whom they were going to hand over the money,” said Santoshnagar inspector M. Shankar.
Police suspect the duo had promised a commission to their acquaintance to exchange the cash.
