Andhra Pradesh: Drunk puts child in net, hangs it

Kakinada: In an appalling crime, a drunk tied up his daughter, put her in a net and hung it from a tree up on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at Jinnuru of Poduru mandal in West Godavari district.

Police said Nallapusa Srinu, 32, hung his daughter, Mary,  8, from the tree at 7 am. In the evening, a passerby heard a weak voice calling for help. He then noticed Mary suspended in the net. He immediately informed an anganwadi worker who called the police.

Mary was rescued and admitted to a government hospital at Palakollu. The police later arrested Srinu. Locals said the family stayed in a a remote part of the village where not many people pass by,

Police said Srinu and his wife Venkata Lakshmi, 38, have two sons and two daughters. ICDS officials say they would take care of the girl. Poduru circle inspector P. Ravindrababu registered a case and is investigating.
