Five-month-old dies at Ameerpet Sishuvihar

Hyderabad: A five-month-old baby girl died at a Shishuvihar in Ameerpet on Sunday. The staff of Niloufer claimed that she was brought dead by Shishuvihar staff around 10 pm on Sunday. According to sources, the outsourcing staff tried to feed the baby and the milk went into the lungs, leading to her death. SR Nagar police booked a case under suspicious death and started a probe.

The baby, Advitha, was born on November 11, 2017. SR Nagar police Inspector Mohd Waheeduddin said, “The baby was referred by the Women and Child Welfare Department of Kadthal and was shifted to the home here. On Sunday night, the baby started vomiting, following which the management of Shishuvihar rushed her to Niloufer hospital where the duty doctors declared her brought dead.” Based on a complaint given by Shishuvihar manager Swati, a case was booked under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC.

“Balala Hakkula Sangham has demanded post-mortem of the baby by government doctors and the truth to be revealed and also a high-level inquiry initiated,” said NGO president Achyuta Rao. He alleged irregularities during the term of the present principal secretary and the director of women and child welfare and that both should be replaced immediately.
