BENGALURU: The CCB police have intensified the probe to find out the caller, who had demanded Rs 10 crore from Congress MLC H.M. Revanna and threatened to eliminate him and his son if the demand was not met.
Mr Revanna had received threat call on May 11 from a person, who claimed to be underworld don Ravi Pujari. He had filed a complaint in this connection with the Mahalakshmi Layout police station.
In his complaint, Mr Revanna stated that when he was waiting at Belagavi airport on May 11, he got a call from an unknown number at 4.40 pm. The caller introduced himself as Ravi Pujari and demanded Rs 10 crore for release of his son’s movie ‘Lakshmana’ without any hassle. Later at 5.10 pm, the person called Mr Revanna again and threatened that if his demand is taken lightly, he would not spare Revanna, his son Anup and film director R. Chandru.
Considering the seriousness of the case, city Police Commissioner N. S. Megharikh has transferred the case to the CCB. Further, the police have provided another gunman to Mr Revanna, who already had two gunmen. Anup has also been provided security.
The CCB police probing the case said that the call was made through internet. “We can only know the caller by tracing the IP address. Cyber crime experts are on the job to crack it,” an official said.
