Bengaluru: Man held for bid to rape step-daughter

Bengaluru: A man has been booked under POCSO Act for allegedly attempting to rape his 14-year-old step daughter on Thursday.
The accused, Ramraj, is a karate master and a resident of Halanayakanahalli in Bellandur. He is currently unemployed and the victim is a class 8 student in a private school in Doddakannelli. He was arrested by Bellandur police on Friday. According to police, the incident took place on Thursday evening when the victim was alone in the house. When Ramraj attempted to rape the girl, she escaped from the house.
Fearing that she could tell about the incident to his wife, Ramraj too fled and stayed at his neighbour's house. The incident came to light when Ramraj's wife, a garment factory employee, came home and the girl narrated the whole incident to her. Later the victim's mother approached the police and filed a case against her husband.
The girl's mother got married to Ramraj a few years ago. Ramraj's first wife had left him over a family dispute.
