A 36-year-old employee of the Bank of America died under suspicious circumstances in Gachibowli.
Hyderabad: A 36-year-old employee of the Bank of America died under suspicious circumstances in Gachibowli. Relatives of the victim, Padmaja Samsani, believe that her techie husband, Pilli Gireesh Narsimha, and his family had killed her and were trying to portray it as a suicide. Padmaja, a data manager (DM) with the bank, married Gireesh, who works for Tech Mahindra, in April 2016 and the couple lived at Sudershannagar Colony in Gachibowli.
On Sunday, Gireesh called Padmaja’s parents saying she had started bleeding from her nose and that she was being taken to hospital. When her father, Mr Nageshwar Rao, arrived at the hospital, he found that she had been declared dead on arrival. He said he found injuries on her forehead and throat and alleged that his son-in-law and his family had killed her.
He said that though Gireesh had not asked for dowry, Padmaja’s family had given 18 tolas of gold and an acre of farmland at Amalapuram, which was worth over Rs 20 lakh. “Despite this, he, and his family were harassing her for dowry. They assaulted her last year for dowry,” Mr Nageshwar Rao said. The police said Gireesh claimed that he had found his wife hanging from a fan. He said he rushed her to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. The police found a text message reading “I am not happy with my personal and professional life. I am ending up,” that was sent from Padmaja’s phone to her husband’s before she allegedly hung herself, Gachibowli inspector S. Chandrakanth said, “Before dying she sent a message to her husband. Inquiries indicate that she was harassed for dowry.” A case of dowry death was registered against Gireesh, his brother, his sister-in-law and his uncle, at Gachibowli PS.
Gireesh was forcing Padmaja to quit Bank of America:
Padmaja, an MBA finance graduate, was working for the Bank of America, and had resigned a month ago as her husband had been forcing her to look for a day job. Padmaja was working at night and Gireesh in the day. She was serving her notice period. He had also asked her to withdraw her PF and give it to him, but she had refused. Though the demand for dowry started a few months after marriage, the harassment increased after she submitted resignation. “He assaulted her a week ago. My parents went to talk to Gireesh but he was not at home. He did not take their calls,” Padmaja’s brother Shekhar said. As she did not conceive the couple were on medication. Doctors said that she was normal and that her husband should come for a check, but Gireesh refused. “If she had killed herself how can there be blood all over her. Why did she bleed from nose and ears,” Shekhar said.
