HYDERABAD: A 43-year-old cook, who had created a tizzy on June 11 by calling and informing the police that bombs were placed in three places including the income-tax building and a government building in Secunderabad, was arrested on Monday. A police check had revealed that the call was a hoax.

Jaini Radhakrishna, the accused, had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the I-T department to disclose where he had placed bombs. Nampally police arrested him from a temple in Hayathnagar.

Central zone DCP M. Venkateswarlu said Radhakrishna claimed that he had suffered a Rs 30-lakh loss while trading in rice and that his family had left him. He came to Secunderabad from Guntur on June 11 and placed a call to the police.
