Kerala: Two bodies found; search still on for two others

Four persons had been missing after the country boat in which they went for fishing capsized in the dam on Sunday night.

Wayanad: The  Navy team retrieved two bodies of the boat accident victims  from the Banasura Sagar reservoir  here  on Wednesday morning. Four persons had been missing after the country boat in which they went for fishing  capsized in the dam on Sunday night.

The bodies recovered are of Melvin Manithotti, 34, hailing from Chembukkadav, near Thusharagiri, Kozhikode,  and Wilson Padinjarekkuzhiyil from Wayanad.  Those still missing are Sachin Nellippoyil, 20, and Binu Molekkunnil, 42, both natives of Chembukadavu.

The body of Melvin was located about one-and-a-half  km from the accident spot by 8.30 a.m. and that of Wilson from the same spot  by 10 a.m.  The ill-fated basket boat was located by 12 noon.

Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran  visited the place  to review the rescue operations. Apart from the 12-member Navy experts, the fire and rescue scuba diving team, the underwater search team and divers from Thurkky Jeevan Raksha Samithy, 

Kalpetta, also are participating in the search. District collector N. Suhas and team are coordinating the activities. Heavy rain and strong wind have been hampering the operations.
