Begum Bazaar robbery gang busted; 2 nabbed, Rs 18 lakh seized

Hyderabad: Task force sleuths solved a major robbery that occurred in Begum Bazaar two weeks ago and arrested two members of the gang. They also seized Rs 18 lakh. The duo, identified as Mukundaram alias Mahesh and Suresh Sharma, struck at the house of one Varun Sharma, who was employed with a plywood shop. Police said one Dinesh used to observe that Varun was staying alone.
Commissioner’s Task Force DCP B. Limba Reddy said Dinesh found that Mr Varun Sharma used to keep large amounts of money at home, and used to carry it around without any security. He told his friend Mukesh, a car driver from Rajasthan, about this. On the day of the robbery, four of the gangsters knocked on Mr Varun Sharma’s door. When he answered, they pushed Mr Varun Sharma into the bedroom, assaulted him and took away Rs 32 lakh kept in a box.
The four returned to Rajasthan and went to Mukesh’s house. They took Rs 6.3 lakh each. On Saturday Suresh and Mukesh came to Hyderabad to give Dinesh, a gang member, his share, and were caught by the Task Force. Police seized '18.13 lakh and handed them over to the Shahinayathgunj police. The DCP said Rajesh had a criminal record and warrants were pending against him. The DCP said the police was sending a proposal to book them under the PD Act.
