Chennai: Burglary in mobile shop, Rs 6 lakh worth phones missing

The police investigating the case are collecting CCTV footages of nearby shops to probe the case.

Chennai: A DMDK party member lost mobile phones worth Rs 6.5 lakhs when his store was robbed in the wee hours of Thursday night.

Arul Bhakiyaraj, a resident of Shastri Nagar in Vyasarpadi and a DMDK committee member, had opened a mobile store in Moolakadai in Kodungaiyur only a week ago. 

On Tuesday night, Arul had shut his shop after business and went home as usual but when he returned to open it on Wednesday morning, he found the shutter of the shop broken.

Arul then went on to open the store and found several mobile phones were stolen. The total worth is Rs 6.5 lakhs, he has said in his complaint, police sources said. 

The police investigating the case are collecting CCTV footages of nearby shops to probe the case.
