Online tutor sentenced to jail for blackmailing student’s mother
In Rehman case, the tutor told the child that they would give her mother a surprise and asked her to take her pictures secretly
Hyderabad: A city court on Wednesday sentenced to eight days in jail, Rehman, 50, an online tutor, who manipulated his minor student and collected her mother’s pictures to blackmail her. The court also sentenced a youngster who had been harassing a woman under the pretext of marriage, as well as two more persons for passing lewd comments against a woman.
Police said in the Rehman case, the tutor told the child that they would give her mother a surprise and asked her to take her pictures secretly and send them to him. Using the pictures, he started blackmailing the woman and demanded that she marry him.
When she refused, he sent her pictures to her estranged husband, claiming that she was having an affair. He also managed to convince him that the child’s safety is at stake with the woman.
Worried about the child’s safety, her husband confronted the victim which is when she learnt Rehman had manipulated her daughter. She went to the SHE Teams which produced him before the XIII Special Metropolitan Magistrate of Secunderabad, who sentenced him.
In another case, Shreekar, working for a private firm, had been harassing his 23-year-old girlfriend for sex on the pretext that they would be marrying soon. When she refused, he warned that he would make their pictures public.
The victim slipped into depression and developed suicidal tendencies, police said. The SHE teams came to her rescue, arrested Shreekar and produced him before the XI Special Metropolitan Magistrate at Nampally, who sentenced him to imprisonment for five days.
The Magistrate also sentenced Mohd. Hussain and Abdul Shaif to imprisonment for five days on charges of harassing a woman at NTR Garden by passing lewd comments against her.
