Hyderabad: A day after the acid attack on a woman, Jeedimetla police arrested a man named K. Neelu in connection with the case. Police said the victim P. Rajyalakshmi and Neelu were in a sexual relationship and that she had broken up with him and got close to another man. She also owed money to Neelu. Police said that Neelu attacked the woman to get even with her.

The victim Rajya Lakshmi was arrested in 2013 for killing her husband P. Prasad with the help of her then lover Shekar. She was later released on bail and parted ways with Shekar. “After her husband was killed, Rajyalakshmi stayed with one Shekar and then later had a live-in relationship with Neelu. Now, she is living with another person after breaking up with Neelu. Her new affair angered Neelu, and he wanted to take revenge,” said Jeedimetla inspector C.
