524 pirated CDs seized in Guntur

GUNTUR: The Guntur police on Monday night raided CD shops at various places in the city and seized 524 pirate CDs of new cinemas and 254  porn CDs. Guntur Urban SP  Sarvasreshth Tripathi,  addressing mediapersons on Monday night, said the  police teams conducted searches in CD shops in Kothapeta, Old Guntur, Pattabhipuram and Arundalpeta police station limits and found illegal pirated CDs and porn CDs.

He said that pirated CDs of new Telugu movies  Dhruva, Meelo Yevaru Koteswarudu, Premam and other films were found in the shops. He said that besides CDs, the police also seized computers, hard disks, copiers and wrappers. He added that the concern police stations registered cases and that  action would be initiated against the owners of the shops according to the Copyright Act and warned about continuation of raids to restrain pirated and porn CDs. Pirated CDs of movies have been causing a huge loss to the film industry and in turn to all those depending on the industry, the SP said and urged people to avoid buying such CDs and DVDs.
