Hyderabad: Duo Stays With Family Member's Body, Cops Suspect Mental Illness
Hyderabad: The mother and brother of a 43-year-old woman who died around five days ago were found residing with her decomposing body at their residence in Jeedimetla, with the police suspecting the duo to be suffering from mental illness.
The police said they were informed by neighbours of the family about a foul smell emanating from the residence, which was allegedly shut for long, following which they discovered the body and registered a case.
M. Pavan, SHO of Jeedimetla police station, said, “The exact cause and time of death would be ascertained after a post-mortem examination is done. Further investigation is underway.”
The police identified the deceased as Radha Kumari, a native of Khammam, who had been residing with her mother, Vijaya Lakshmi, and younger brother, Praveen Kumar, over the past couple of years. She was divorced around 20 years ago, they said.
While Kumar worked with a pharmaceutical company until recently, Kumari was at home taking care of their mother.
The police said that neighbours repeatedly knocked on the door of the residents, but there was no response. Upon reaching the spot, the police found the body on a cot in one room, with the duo in another room.
The duo told the police they were unaware of what had happened to Kumari.
