Bengaluru: Threat to cops Magadi MLA, 4 others granted bail

After the hearing, the MLA said that they had not committed a crime.

Bengaluru: Magadi constituency MLA H.C. Balakrishna and four others were on Friday granted anticipatory bail by a court in Magadi of Ramanagar district, in connection with the FIR registered against them by the Kudur police for threatening and verbally abusing Magadi Circle Inspector.

Kudur police registered an FIR against Balakrishna and his supporters on Thursday, the MLA and the other accused went to the Magadi JMFC court on Friday morning and surrendered.

They also moved an anticipatory bail petition. The judge granted bail to five accused and directed them to appear before the police every 15 days for the next three months. They were also told not to tamper with the evidence and deposit personal bond of Rs 50,000 each and one surety.

Along with the MLA, Magadi Taluk Panchayat President Suresh, former presidents of the panchayat M. Ramanna, B Ramanna, and Narasimhamurthy were also granted bail.

After the hearing, the MLA said that they had not committed a crime. “We surrendered to the court as soon as FIR was registered against us. We have full faith in the judiciary and will come out clean,” he added.
