The protest had been brewing since Saturday with the relatives and students alleging that Jishnu Pranoy was threatned by invigilator Praveen.

Thrissur: Even though the postmortem report of Jishnu Pranoy, who committed suicide on January 6 at the boys’ hostel of Nehru College of Engineering and Research, Pampady,  cited external injuries on his body before he died, the oral statement give by the forensic surgeon who conducted the postmortem to the investigation team says that there was nothing unnatural about the two injuries on Jinshu’s lips and the scratch on his nose, DC has learnt from sources close to police.

It is understood that the forensic surgeon has told the team that the injuries and scratches could have occurred while Jishnu was in the bathroom or while he was being taken out and rushed to the hospital from the hostel. The team has till now collected statements from more than 200 persons, including nearly 175 students of the college. Investigation officer and Irinjalakuda ASP Kiran Narayanan told DC that she was awaiting the final forensic report and all aspects will be investigated.

Jishnu’s uncle K.K. Sreejith had told DC  that the post-mortem reported added to their doubts that Jishnu was subjected to severe mental and physical torture before he died. “We have been given conflicting reports on where he hanged himself: first it was the shower in the bathroom, then the window there, and now a hook,” he said. Mr Sreejith, however, said Jishnu’s  relatives had full faith in the investigating officer.
