Hyderabad: A woman was throttled to death by her third husband after she asked for a separation. The man later consumed acid to kill himself, but was rescued.

Saroornagar inspector N. Ch. Rangaswamy said that Kavitha, 28, and Gopal Chary, 32, got married last year.

Kavitha, was an orphan, and a vagabond. She got married to two people earlier and separated from them.

On Tuesday, Gopal got to know that Kavitha had aborted her pregnancy as she was not interested in living with him anymore.

The couple had a quarrel over this issue and in a fit of rage, he throttled her to death. Later, he consumed toilet cleaner to attempt suicide, but his neighbours alerted the police, who rushed to him to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.

He is stable now, the police said.

The inspector added that a case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC against Gopal.

He said that further investigation would take place to find where the woman got aborted.
