HYDERABAD: Alleging that police officials were trying to hush up the matter, G. Vinod Reddy, PCC vice-president questioned as to why an SIT probe or any other high-level committee was not constituted to probe Khadeer Khan’s death.

Speaking to media persons, along with PCC minority leaders, including Osman Al Hajri, he felt that it was shocking that despite not being anywhere in the CCTV footage, Khan was picked up by the police for a chain-snatching case.

"When police failed to link him with the case, they admitted him to a private hospital for treatment as his health was deteriorating after being in their custody for four days. They forced his family members to remain tight-lipped," he said.

Describing this as a peculiar case of 'murder' by police, the leaders said that attempts to reach out to the DGP Anjani Kumar were futile.
