Hyderabad: Kamatipura police arrested a 20-year-old man who was allegedly trying to kidnap a boy from Misrigunj on Sunday. Locals found the suspect, Md Zakeer, walking with the seven-year-old boy, and caught him red handed. They roughed him up before handing him over to the police.

The kid, Md. Sufiyan, was handed over to his parents by the police. The suspect admitted that he tried to kidnap the boy as he was angry with his father, Md Sajid, who had asked him to leave his neighbourhood.

Police said that Zakeer had come to visit Sajid’s area a day ago. Zakeer used to live in this area three years ago. He came to meet his friends.

“Sajid asked Zakeer to leave. Zakeer said that’s why he tried to kidnap the child,” said a cop.

Police said they booked a case against Zakeer for kidnap. During the police interrogation, Zakeer, who is a footpath vendor, did not admit to any other motives.
