Hyderabad: Sangishetty Surender, 32, strangled his wife Varalakshmi and two children, Ritish, 5, and Yashasvini, 4, at the home of his in-laws in Meerpet on Tuesday morning. The couple had had an argument just before the grisly murders.

Surender then called his elder brother and informed him about the murders. He walked to the police station and surrendered. Police has registered a case of murder against him.

The family had arrived at Varalakshmi’s maternal home in Badangpet village in Meerpet on Sunday to celebrate Ugadi . On Tuesday morning, Varalakshmi’s father Mahesh and her brother had gone out to buy toddy and since Ritish had an exam, Surender woke up his wife and son and told them to get ready so that they could return to their home in Tellapur.

Ritish was ready and having a snack in the hall, while Varalakshmi was getting ready and Yashasvini was still asleep.

An argument broke out between the couple, and he slapped her. Varalakshmi’s mother who was in the kitchen heard this but thought it was just a regular argument. Minutes after killing his wife, Surender killed Yashasvini who was asleep and dragged Ritish who was watching TV in the hall into the bedroom and strangled him too.

Minutes later, Surender called his brother to tell him about the murders. His brother alerted his wife. When she rushed into the bedroom, she found all three lying unconscious. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Surender reportedly told the police his wife did not care about his parents or family, but was always concerned about her parents and he was fed up with her.
