MNC employee held in Hyderabad for ganja smuggling
On Tuesday, the cops arrested Bobby and seized 10 LSD blots, 10 amphetamine tablets and one kg ganja from his possession.
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team busted a major interstate drug racket. They arrested an employee of a city-based MNC on charges of smuggling ganja to Goa and procuring narcotics to be supplied to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and other major cities.
Katepally Ganesh Kumar alias Bobby, 27, supplied ganja to customers in goa through a Kashmiri drug peddler named Arbid Mir alias Tiger. Bobby’s associates, Shaik Ahmed, 21 and Shaik Rasheed 18, were arrested by the Saroornagar Police last Thursday, while another member of the gang was previously arrested by the Excise police. Tiger was also recently arrested by the Goa police.

Mahesh Bhagwat, police commissioner of Rachakonda, said that Bobby, who hailed from Krishna district, had visited Goa several times, along with his friends Aravind Reddy, Praveen, Mahesh, during his stint at a city-based MNC, to buy and use recreational drugs. During one of his trips, he met Tiger, who was already involved in smuggling narcotics and became friends with him.
“As per their deal, the duo procured ganja from agency areas in Vizag and Khammam and supplied it to Tiger. In exchange, they obtained narcotic drugs from him, which they supplied to their customers in Hyder-abad and other metros. They targeted the employees of MNCs, who placed orders over WhatsApp and made payments through bank transfers,” Mr Bhagwat said.
Aravind was recently caught by the Excise Police and a large quantity of drugs was seized. Tiger was caught by the Goa police. Shaik Ahmed and Shaik Rasheed were arrested on the basis of a tip-off.
Ganesh roade to Goa to deliver ganja
Ganesh alias Bobby operated a major drug racket and maintained a large customer base in the city. He often travelled by bike to deliver ganja to Tiger in Goa.
In the city, ganja procured from the agency areas sells for up to '10,000 per kg, but Bobby was selling it to Tiger for '15,000 per kg. Bobby’s associates would transport hundreds of kgs of ganja to Goa in the luggage compartment of buses. If they ever ran the risk of being caught, they would flee, leaving the consignment unclaimed.
Officials said that Bobby often travelled from Hyderabad to Goa to deliver the ganja to Tiger. “He is well-versed with the roads and the checkpoints en route. He would take the necessary precautions to escape detection,” they said.
His customer base in the city consisted largely of MNC emplo-yees residing in Kukatpally and the surrounding areas.
