Krishnakumar murder case: Protest march to seek CBI probe
Cops had found body parts in septic tank
KOLLAM: The public under ‘Neethi Paura Samiti’ will protest in front of the Kollam collectorate on Saturday demanding a CBI probe into the Krishnakumar murder case. Krishnakumar, 42, of Kulathil Purayidom house, Pullikada here, had gone missing in November 2014 and the police had recovered his body parts from a septic tank behind the ‘Pai Godown’ at Chinnakkada here in January this year. Rajamma, 70, Krishnakumar’s mother alleged that her son was murdered by the police. The then SI G. Gopakumar, who was with the east police then, had manhandled her son mistaking him for some other person earlier. The SI was suspended for three months as punishment.
“The police had taken my son into custody on the day he went missing. An eyewitness, Ratheesh, who saw the police action, was also tortured. My son was murdered by the police in retaliation for the suspension awarded to the SI for unlawfully taking him into custody. He never came out of the police custody and we later heard the news of his death,” she said. The DNA analysis results to know whether the body parts belonged to Krishnakumar are yet to be received by his relatives. The police had taken Krishnakumar’s close friend Roy Varghese, 42, alias Komban Roy from Pullikkada, Murukan and Ayyappan in connection with the alleged murder. According to the statements by the accused, they killed Krishnakumar in a drunken brawl and the body was buried in the septic tank.
