Hyderabad: Careless driver crushes 2-yr-old
The child was playing near her house when she was crushed between a vehicle that was reversing and a compound wall, police said.
Hyderabad: A two-year-old girl playing in front of her house was crushed between a wall and a car at Shamshabad on Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as Patlavath Sashi.
Police said Sashi was the only daughter of P. Ravi, a daily wage earner from Satamrai in the RGI Airport police station limits.
The incident occurred when Sashi and a few other kids were playing in the open space in front of their huts.
At that moment, the driver, identified as Chandu, put the vehicle in reverse. He did not notice the children playing there.
The vehicle hit Sashi, who got crushed between the vehicle and the compound wall of the adjacent house. The other kids escaped without injuries.
Sashi was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Immediately after the accident, Chandu tried to flee but was caught by locals who roughed him up and handed him over to the police.
“We tested him for drunk driving but he recorded zero on the breath analyser.” RGI airport sub-inspector Shiva Kumar said.
Based on her father’s complaint, a case for causing death due to negligence was registered and the body was shifted for autopsy.
The vehicle reportedly belongs to one Badru Naik, who resides nearby.
