Badam milk unit raided in Mallepally
10,000 bottles with brand names seized.
Hyderabad: Habeebnagar police raided a badam milk unit in Mallepally on Tuesday owned by one Afzal Sagar and arrested a person. Police seized around 10,000 bottles with different brand names. The arrested suspect was identified as Praveen. “We raided a house of Afzal Sagar based on information. We found that date expired, adulterated badam milk was being repacked for sales under different brand names to retailers,” said Habeeb-nagar inspector P. Madhukar Swamy.
A sample from the recovered lot was sent to the FS lab for evaluation. Habeebnagar police booked a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sent the accused to judicial custody. In a similar incident, Madhapur police raided a godown on Tuesday afternoon and arrested a 40-year-old businessman for using chemical powders to ripen fruits.
The arrested suspect Mohd Shakil, was using illegal chemical ripeners on fruits like mango, banana and sapota. Police booked a case against Shakil and seized the fruits and chemical ripeners. In another raid, police apprehended a 45-year-old fruit businessman from Ayyapa Society opposite Narayana College for ripening mangoes using chemicals. The man, Syed Saheb, a resident of Sabdarnagar, was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the fruits were seized.
