Acid attack victim succumbs to burns in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: A woman who was attacked with acid late Tuesday night at Eluru succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Vijayawada on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, Y. Fransika, 35, a resident of Eluru, was working as a receptionist at a dental college located near Duggirala. She was separated from her husband some two years ago and was living with her parents.

On Tuesday night, when she was returning home on her bike after attending work, two unidentified men attacked her with acid, causing severe burns on her face and head. She rushed to her house and was shifted to the government hospital in Vijayawada and later to a private hospital for medical treatment.
The police booked a case and took the two accused into custody for questioning.
