Woman, lover held for husband's murder in Ghatkesar
HYDERABAD: A woman and her paramour were arrested by the Ghatkesar police on Thursday for the murder of the woman's husband. The accused, Kottagolla Eeshwarama, 40, and her paramour, Mutlakunta Srinivas, 35, were apprehended at Yamnampet Ghatkesar.
During interrogation, they confessed to the crime, revealing that on June 22, they had murdered Eeshwarama's husband, Kottagolla Thukkappa, also known as Thukaram. They committed the heinous act as Thukappa had become a hurdle to their relationship.
On June 22, the Ghatkesar petrol staff found Thukkappa unconscious and immediately admitted him to Gandhi Hospital. He succumbed to the poisoning and passed away on June 24 at 6.30 pm.
The police initiated a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC, conducted a post-mortem at Gandhi Hospital, and launched an investigation. On Wednesday, Bopparapu Babu and others approached the Ghatkesar police station, disclosing that Thukappa was poisoned by his second wife, Eeshwarama, and her paramour, Srinivas. The accused had been acquainted for the past year.
On June 18, after being caught red-handed, both Eeshwarama and Srinivas decided to eliminate Thukappa, who was partially paralysed. On June 21, they sought forgiveness from Thukappa and convinced him that they would take him to a better hospital in the city for treatment.
Instead, they took Thukappa to Koukar, where they stayed overnight at a dargah. The following day, they returned to Ghatkesar, claiming that the doctor was unavailable. Subsequently, the accused took Thukappa to Yamannapet, where they bought a beer bottle and a quarter bottle of whisky from a liquor shop. They mixed pesticide in Thukappa's drink and made him consume it.
The police have filed cases of murder, concealing facts, and destroying evidence against the accused, and have produced them before the court for further proceedings.
