Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl died in suspicious circumstances in Ramnagar. While her parents claim that she died of a head injury, neighbours say that she died after a beating by her mother for urinating in sleep. The AP Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded an inquiry. The kid, Manasa, was the elder daughter of Venkatesh and Pallavi, residents of Parsigutta, who are labourers at a function hall. Another couple, Muneer and Laxmi, working in the same hall and Venkatesh and Pallavi were close friends and often Pallavi used to leave their children Manasa and one-year-old Teja with Laxmi.

On Thursday also Pallavi left Manasa with Laxmi. On Friday they came to know that Manasa fell down from the steps while playing and was admitted to hospital, where she died on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, their neighbours claim that Venkatesh and Pallavi are addicted to liquor and Pallavi used to beat Manasa often after getting drunk.

Laxmi said that she saw Pallavi beating Manasa with a broom, as she had urinated in sleep. “I and Kamalamma scolded Pallavi for beating the child severely,” she said. They said that her parents conducted the funeral of Manasa secretly and told everyone that she died of a head injury. However, no case was registered by police.
