Bengaluru: Home alone woman doctor robbed at knife point
Pratibha's parents had gone abroad while she was alone at home.
BENGALURU: A 25-year-old home alone doctor was tied-up, gagged and robbed at a knife point by her domestic help and his two associates in her apartment in Jayanagar 8th block on Monday night. The police reached the spot, verified the CCTV footage and launched a manhunt to nab the three men.
The victim, Pratibha Jain, who had recently completed her medical education, was residing in Vaishnavi apartments along with her parents. Pratibha’s parents had gone abroad while she was alone at home.
In her police complaint, Pratibha stated that her cook, identified as Dinesh Kumar, who hails from Jharkhand, barged inside her apartment along with two others on the pretext of carrying out work around 9.40 pm and attacked her, police said.
According to the police, the prime suspect Dinesh knew that Pratibha was alone and was waiting for an opportunity. On Monday night, the suspect along with his two aides allegedly barged inside the apartment and tied Pratibha’s hands and legs. When the victim tried to resist and attempted to raise an alarm, the miscreants gagged her mouth with tape.
While one of the robbers threatened her at a knife point, the other two ransacked the house and walked away with valuables and cash worth lakhs of rupees before locking her inside the apartment.
The incident came to light after Pratibha raised an alarm and informed her neighbours who in turn called the police. Along with sniffer squad and FSL experts, a team visited the spot and collected clues about the robbers.
Based on Pratibha’s information and details collected, the jurisdictional police have launched a manhunt, said the police. Jayanagar police have registered a case of robbery.
