Odisha victim of gangrape very critical

Kancheepuram district police on Friday arrested four persons in connection with the gangrape of a 20-year-old woman near Cheyyar in Kancheepuram district, 110 km from the city.

Bhubaneswar: The Kunduli gangrape survivor was on Monday admitted to ICU at Medicine department of SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated. A seven-member special team of doctors led by Dr Pravat Padhi and comprising doctors of medicine, anaesthesia and cardiology departments was constituted for treatment of the victim at the hospital.

The survivor was brought to SCB Hospital from Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital in Koraput after she vomited blood. Her condition was found unwell on Saturday in Kotpad where she was accommodated by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). After her condition deteriorated there and she vomited blood twice and thrice, she was shifted to the SCB in Cuttack late on Saturday night.

The Class IX student of Kunduli in Koraput district was allegedly gang-raped by a group of four security personnel on October 10 while returning from school. A case under Sections 376 (D) and 377 of IPC and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act had been registered. SCB Medical College and Hospital superintendent Dr Shyama Kanungo said the girl had consumed excessive iron tablets.
