Hyderabad: Aeronautical engineer steals gadgets, arrested

The two cleared out five television sets, a projector along with a screen, a refrigerator, a home theatre, a laptop, and eight mobile phones.

Hyderabad: An aeronautical engineering graduate and his friend stole electronic items from the houses they took on rent. The Gachibowli police arrested the two on Wednesday.

According to Gachibowli police, Dhulipudi Srivatsava, 30, an aeronautical engineering graduate from Kukatpally would pose as an Air India pilot and create a fake Aadhaar card to that effect.

He and his friend Raj Kumar, 49, who runs an electronics store at Saroornagar, would watch out for advertisements online for semi-furnished or fully furnished houses or shared accommodation on rent and approach the owners.

“The duo would move to the house at the earliest and also shares morphed online payment receipts of the rental money through WhatsApp. When the owners complained of not receiving the money, the accused convinced the owners that the online transfer may take a couple of days. Soon after moving to the house, they would steal all the possible movable electronic items,” said the police officer who investigated the case.

The two cleared out five television sets, a projector along with a screen, a refrigerator, a home theatre, a laptop, and eight mobile phones. Police found the car used by the two to transport the stolen goods.
