Hyderabad: A 10-year-old boy was allegedly stripped naked and beaten up by the owner of a kirana store in Habeebnagar for allegedly stealing soft drink bottles from the store.

The accused, Gadge Krishnakanth alias Krishna, further allegedly threatened to rub chilli powder on the boy's private regions "to teach him a lesson" so that he would not engage in stealing. The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, was brought to the fore after videos of it went viral on social media. The boy, a class IV student, knows the accused

and is a frequent visitor to the kirana store because it is close to his home. Krishna had noticed missing items from his stores for the past few days. He caught the boy red-handed when he was allegedly stealing a soft drink bottle.

Krishna then took the boy to his house, about 200 metres away from the store, stripped him naked, thrashed him, and threatened to apply chilli powder all over him.

The boy informed his mother, who later filed a complaint with police, following which police registered a case on charges of illegal confinement, threatening, and assault.  The accused was arrested following the complaint.
