Bengaluru: Tempo crashes into bike, one dead
The deceased has been identified as Mahadevaiah, a resident of Hongasandra.
BENGALURU: Two persons died in separate road accidents in the city on Sunday. A 48-year-old man was killed and another person injured when a tempo traveller jumped the road median and hit their bike on the Sumanahalli fly over on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Mahadevaiah, a resident of Hongasandra, while Muniswamy, 31, who was riding pillion escaped with minor injuries.
Police said that the incident occurred around 1.15 pm on the flyover, when the duo, both construction workers, were returning to the city from Kunigal.
The driver of the tempo traveller, which was coming from Nagarabavi, was allegedly speeding and tried to over take a car. In the process, he hit the car and then took the vehicle to right. The vehicle jumped the road median and went to the opposite side of the road.
“The tempo traveller fell on the bike. An alert Ventakaswamy, managed to jump off from the bike and escaped with minor injuries. But, Mahadevaiah got crushed under the tempo traveller and died on the spot. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The traffic on the fly over was disrupted for a while due to the accident. The tempo traveller was lifted using a crane. Efforts are on to trace the absconding driver using the registration number of the vehicle,” the police said. Kamakshipalya traffic police have registered a case.
