Hyderabad: A 35-year-old Tollywood co-producer, who pretended to be the additional secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made hundreds of calls to IAS and IPS officials including collectors asking them to recommend people for jobs and postings.

The suspect also duped many job aspirants claiming to be the PA of TS Chief Secretary and promising jobs. Cyber crime police arrested the man, Vanga Anand Babu, a resident of Film Nagar, on Tuesday.

Police found over 2,000 photos of women on his mobile phone. Police is inquiring where he got the photos from. After his arrest Anand Babu told the police that he was a co-producer of low budget films.

Police said he had been calling up senior police officials, collectors and senior bureaucrats asking them to give job postings. He also asked them to provide accommodation at state tourist homes and reservations for darshans at major temples.

“He acquired SIM cards using fake IDs, and had been using them to call officials. He either calls the officials or sends them messages introducing himself as A.K Sharma, additional secretary in PMO. He also introduced himself as Srinivas, PS to Narasing Rao, IAS, the Chief Secretary of Telangana,” said a police official.

“So far, we found that he had cheated two people by promising jobs at Software Technology Private Limited in New Delhi by taking huge amounts from them,” said the official.

Anand Babu, who belongs to East Godavari district, had also sent abusive messages to some senior IAS officials. Police found the suspect used the ID of a woman from Jubilee Hills to acquire the SIM. The suspect was confident that he would never get caught as he used the SIM card of another person. However, cops tracked his phone and arrested him from his flat.
