Attack on Youth Congress leader: Leaders take up protests
Hyderabad: Demanding the arrest of those who involved in the attack on Congress youth leader Thota Pavan in Warangal on Monday, Congress leaders resorted to different types of protests in the city including an attempt to lay siege to the DGP’s office and burning of effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Warangal (West) MLA D. Vinay Baskar on Tuesday.
Police foiled an attempt to lay siege to the DGP office by a group of Youth Congress leaders led by city unit president Mota Rohit, and detained them.
At Banjara Hills Congress leaders led by Khairatabad DCC president C. Rohin Reddy burned effigies of the Chief Minister and Bhaskar.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka strongly condemned the attack on Pavan which resulted in grievous injuries. He also questioned the police 'highhandedness' on Congress activists who were protesting the attack. He felt that this was nothing but snatching the right to freedom of speech.
Pavan was shifted to Secunderabad for better treatment and several Congress leaders including Rohin Reddy met him. Former MP V Hanumantha Rao demanded that the police take tough measures to stop the ‘goondaism’ if BRS leaders.
Earlier, PCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud asked why BRS leaders were feeling threatened even by wall posters highlighting corruption. He demanded that the local MLA Bhaskar be booked for attempt to murder Pavan.
