Man, fiancée attempt to murder latter\'s lover
Asifa’s parents performed her marriage with a person belonging to Kavali in 2021. But they got separated within three months
NELLORE: Police arrested a man and his fiancée for attempting to murder latter’s lover near Atmakur on Tuesday.
Atmakur circle inspector Venugopal Reddy identified the accused as Shaik Abdul Rehman, 27, of Vengalrao Nagar in Kavali, and Shaik Asifa, native of Kavali working as staff nurse in Atmakur Government Hospital (AGH).
Victim Shaik Nazir suffered grievous injuries and is being treated at AGH. Nazir is a computer operator at AGH and had fallen in love with staff nurse Asifa working in the same hospital. Their proposal to marry was turned down by their parents.
Asifa’s parents performed her marriage with a person belonging to Kavali in 2021. But they got separated within three months. Asifa resumed her friendship with Nazir after the breakup. Nazir once again proposed to marry her. But Asifa’s parents again turned down the proposal and fixed their daughter’s marriage with Shaik Abdul Rehman of Kavali, an acquaintance of Asifa in the past.
To avoid problems in future, Asifa asked Nazir to delete their chats and photos in the latter’s mobile but he insisted on marrying her. Coming to know Nazir’s stance, Rehman decided to eliminate him and devised a plan with Asifa. Accordingly, Asifa invited Nazir to an isolated spot along Vinjamuru road on Sunday. There, she convinced him to delete their chats and photos from his phone and she too did the same on her phone. Asifa then left the place advising Nazir to leave a little later.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rehman had been waiting on Vinjamuru road in a Maruti Swift Desire to kill Nazir. On spotting him coming on his Scooty, Rehman crashed the car into the Scooty near Nellorepalem village and sped away. Nazir fell under a tempo parked near the road margin, sustaining critical injuries.
“Had Nazir fell on the road, Rehman might have crushed him to death,” CI Venugopal Reddy said.
Atmakur sub-inspector M. Sivasankar Rao and S. Sai Prasad investigated the case. They arrested Rehman and Asifa on Tuesday based on a complaint from Nazir.
SP Ch. Vijaya Rao commended Venugopal Reddy and his team for resolving the case in record time.
