NRI kills wife, dumps body, flies to Dubai
Victim was staying with parents due to disputes with hubby.
Hyderabad: A non-resident Indian (NRI) allegedly killed his wife, threw her body near a garbage bin in Dabeerpura on Sunday night and took a flight to Dubai on Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Zeba Naaz of King Kothi. She was married to the main suspect Hyder Khan of Farhatnagar in Dabeerpura about ten years ago. The couple had three sons aged between seven and three years.
There were some differences between the couple due to which Zeba Naaz was staying with her parents in King Kothi for some years, Dabeerpura inspector D. Venkanna Naik, quoting family members.
Hyder Khan does odd jobs in the United Arab Emirates and travels between India and UAE frequently. “He came to India last week and contacted Zeba over phone. At about 2 pm on Saturday, he came to our house and took her away saying he had brought some sarees and money to be donated to the poor,” said Mr Mohd Baqer Raza, Zeba’s brother.
When Zeba did not return, her mother approached the Narayanguda police and lodged a complaint. The police registered a woman missing case and began an effort to trace her.
At about midnight on Sunday, locals spotted a neatly packed plastic bag dumped near the garbage bin near the Dabeerpura nala from which a foul smell was emanating. They informed the police, who rushed to the spot and opened the bag and found the body of a burkha-clad woman inside.
They shifted the body to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary. Zeba’s family was informed and they reached the hospital and identified her. The family members told the police that they suspected Hyder Khan was involved, and the police raided his house only to find him missing.
“We suspect that Hyder strangled Zeba, resulting in her death. After killing her, he put the body in a suitcase. As he could not pack it inside, he wrapped the body in a big white plastic bag and sealed it with adhesive tape,” inspector Venkanna Naik said.
“We have information that he left the country by an Emirates flight within hours of disposing the body at the garbage dump. We have contacted immigration officials to confirm this,” DCP, South, V. Satyanarayana said. Police was analysing Hyder Khan’s call data record to track his movements. “We need to know where he had killed the woman and who helped him in disposing of the body,” Mr Satyanarayana said.
The Dabeerpura police has formed three teams to examine CCTV footage and call records of the victim’s phone and call records to trace the accused. Zeba’s body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for post mortem and a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been booked.
Hyder khan used to abuse zeba: family
Hyder Khan, the main suspect in the murder of his wife Zeba Naaz, had abused and assaulted her in the past, according to her family members. Dabeerpura inspector D. Venkanna Naik, quoting family members, said family elders had counselled Hyder Khan after the incident.
“Hyder Khan has a violent history. In the past, he attacked me and other family members following which a case of attempt to murder was registered against him at the Kacheguda police station in 2009. One more case was registered against him for a similar offence in Abids police station,” said Zeba’s brother, Mohd Baqer Raza.
Family members told the police that Zeba and Hyder met in the UAE a decade ago when she worked with an airline. After marriage, she returned to India and was staying here.
Police is verifying claims that Hyder had married two other women and divorced. Mr Naik said, “We confirmed that Zeba was his second wife; he divorced his first wife.
