Bengaluru: Man dies while resisting burglary

The burglar pulled out an iron rod and hit on Anantharamaiah head repeatedly and fled with a suitcase.

Bengaluru: In an incident of serial burglary in Yelahanka New Town police station limits, a sexagenarian man was murdered when he tried to fight a burglar who had entered his house in LIC Housing Board Layout. 

In another house a minor was injured when the same burglar attacked him early Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Anantharamaiah (68). According to the police the incident occurred early Wednesday when the unidentified burglar entered his house.

Anantharamaiah woke up to the sound and got into a fight with the burglar. The burglar pulled out an iron rod and hit on Anantharamaiah head repeatedly and fled with a suitcase.

Anantharamaiah was rushed to the Baptist’s Hospital, where he succumbed to head injuries. The police said the burglar, before entering Anantharamaiah’s house, also attempted burglary in one Mohammad Ashraf’s house in the same street.

The police received a call at around 3 am from Ashraf, who informed about the burglary in his house and also said that the burglar has injured his son. 

The police immediately deputed Hoysala to Ashraf’s house.

 A few minutes later, the police were informed about the murder of Anantharamaiah in his house on the same street. 

The burglar, who was reportedly clad in blue trousers and white shirt, attempted burglary at five houses on the same day. The police have formed special teams in order to catch the burglar.
