13 villagers in AP sentenced to life term for killing boy
Vijayawada: Thirteen persons have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the district court in the case of murder of a boy and causing injuries to another youth in Adavuladeevi village in year 2016.
The order was issued by the Tenali 11th additional district court’s magistrate G Malathi, in Bapatla district on Wednesday.
According to the police case, Jasmin, a woman living in the Muslim Colony in the village in Nizampatnam mandal was found having hanged herself to death inside her house while she was alone there. The elders blamed the death for her love affair with boyfriend Sri Sai and said that he along with his friend Pavan Kumar were responsible for her death.
Some villagers tied both to a tree and beat them up indiscriminately. This resulted in the death of Sri Sai and severe injuries to Pavan Kumar.
Based on a complaint lodged by Pavan, police booked a case and took up the investigation. Some 21 accused were identified. Of them, four died while four were acquitted in the case. The remaining 13 were convicted.
