Chennai: Sister, mother put man in de-addiction centre, arrested

The women were produced before a magistrate and were remanded to judicial custody.

Police have arrested the two accused and produced them in the court.

Chennai: City police on Friday arrested a mother-daughter duo for forcefully admitting the woman's son in a de-addiction centre allegedly to take away his share of the family property. 

The man, P. Gnanasekaran, 37 of New Colony, Chormepet,  managed to escape from the de-addiction centre and filed a complaint with the police following which his mother P. Visalatchi (65) and elder sister P. Aarthi (40) were arrested. 

The complainant was not an alcoholic and the women got him admitted in the de-addiction centre to usurp his share of the property, police investigations revealed.

The women were produced before a magistrate and were remanded to judicial custody.
