Constable suspended for sexual abuse of minor
Parents of the victim complained that the constable, who was their neighbour, used to interact with their daughter despite admonishments
VIJAYAWADA: Guntur Urban police stated that a constable has been suspended and they had a registered a case of alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl against him.
According to reports, the constable was working in Guntur and he was allegedly harassing a minor girl who was living in the neighbourhood. The police came to know about the incident and immediately initiated action against him. Following various types of news being circulated on social media platforms over the issue, Guntur urban police issued a clarification statement on Saturday.
According to the SP, K Arif Hafeez, news was circulating in social media about a constable having committed an offence against a minor. Immediately, on coming to know of it, the constable was suspended and a criminal case was registered against him.
Parents of the victim complained that the constable, who was their neighbour, used to interact with their daughter frequently despite admonishments. He refused to mend his ways.
Police said that the parents of the girl have not reported any assault or harassment of the girl by the constable. They urged people to refrain from circulating false information about the incident, keeping in mind the privacy and dignity of the minor and her family.
