Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court directed the Sircilla police superintendent, district medical and health officer and government hospital superintendent to conduct a re-postmortem on the body of K. Venkatesh, who died due to alleged custodial violence, and submit a report within three weeks.

Justice S.V. Bhatt while dealing with a petition by Ms K. Renuka, wife of Venkatesh, and the People’s Union of Civil Liberties directed the authorities to videograph the post-mortem and conduct it as per the guidelines of the National Human Rights Commission. The petitioner alleged that the Central Crime Station police had tortured her husband on July 13. Despite her complaint, senior officers had failed to take action against the police officers responsible she said. She wanted a CBI probe into death of her husband and payment of compensation to her family.
