Odisha woman caught peddling ganja in Chennai
Officials said they had received a tip-off about suspects distributing ganja in sachets to college and school students in the locality.
Chennai: The City police have arrested a woman from Odisha and seized more than one and a half kilograms of ganja in Pallikaranai on Wednesday night.
Police secured the woman identified as, Biny Behara (31), a native of Odisha who was working at a construction site in the city. Based on a specific tip-off, the Pallikaranai police carried out the raid at the house of the accused in Pillayara Kovil Street in Medavakkam near Pallikaranai.
Officials said they had received a tip-off about suspects distributing ganja in sachets to college and school students in the locality. The woman confessed she brought the contraband from Andhra Pradesh. She was produced in Alandur court and lodged at Puzhal prison.
Meanwhile, R.K.Nagar police on Wednesday seized one and a half kilogram of ganja from an auto and arrested three persons. The accused were identified as C.Mohammed Yusuf (28) T.Bashir Ahamed (28) and K.Nagurkani (29) of Tondiarpet. Based on a tip-off, the police checked a parked vehicle on Nethaji Nagar in Tondiarpet which led to the seizure.
