Hyderabad: Southeast zone task force along with Santoshnagar police arrested Rabia Begum, 45, of Ramnaspura for 10 attention diversion cases and recovered Rs. 5.8 lakh from her possession.

On November 15, she approached a jeweller, Ganapath Kumar, to mortgage a ‘rani haar’. He valued the piece and offered her a Rs. 2 lakh loan. She then bargained for a lower interest rate. When he refused, she took the ornament away.

She returned after some time, agreed to the previous interest rate, pledged the ‘rani haar’, took the money and left. The jeweller later realised that she had switched the ornament with a fake and lodged a police complaint, Santoshnagar inspector P. Shiva Chandra said.
