HYDERABAD: he key accused in chain-snatching offences in the city was detained by Cyberabad special operation team (SOT) sleuths in Ahmedabad on Saturday and is being shifted to the city.

According to police, a team of SOT Balanagar and Hyderabad police reached Ahmedabad separately after obtaining details from the place where he stayed for a day. Police from the city were in a tizzy after he committed chain-snatching offences at six different places on a single day.
A senior police officer, part of the investigation teams, revealed that they obtained CCTV footage at the place of offences and found that the accused booked a room in Nampally’s Majestic hotel. “Umesh stayed in room 204 and he submitted his Aadhar card and other details while taking the room,” police officials said.
On learning that he had moved to Ahmedabad, the teams were deputed to track him down.
“Cyberabad police succeeded in detaining the accused with the assistance of their counterparts in Gujarat. He had earlier indulged in similar offences in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other cities,” police officials said.
